SWITCH Mobility Exports First Batch of India-Made Electric Buses to Mauritius

Chennai: In a landmark moment for India’s electric mobility sector, SWITCH Mobility, the EV arm of the Hinduja Group, has flagged off the first batch of 10 electric buses from a 100-unit order to Mauritius. The rollout is part of a special Government-to-Government (G2G) partnership between India and Mauritius, reinforcing SWITCH Mobility’s commitment to its global strategy: Make in India, for the World.

The SWITCH EiV12 buses, developed at the company’s advanced manufacturing facility in Chennai, reflect India’s growing stature as a hub for sustainable automotive innovation.

SWITCH Mobility: EiV12 Buses Operated by NTC

These all-electric buses will be operated by the National Transport Corporation (NTC), Mauritius’ state-owned public transport entity. The delivery follows a successful tender conducted by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), India.

The official flag-off ceremony in Mauritius was attended by Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister of Mauritius; Osman Mahomed, Minister of Land Transport; and Anurag Srivastava, High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, alongside other senior dignitaries.

Built for modern urban mobility, the SWITCH EiV12 offers seating for up to 45 passengers and is equipped with cutting-edge features including:

  • SWITCH iON telematics for real-time vehicle health monitoring
  • Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS)
  • Fast rear-end dual-gun charging
  • Floor-mounted LFP battery for enhanced stability
